FIT to KML
A track line Earth can draw. Sensors stay in the FIT; KML is the path.

What this format is
KML is a map. Earth draws the GPS line; it does not chart heart rate. Keep the FIT if you still need sensors.
How to get the file
- From Garmin Connect
- 1. Export original FIT. Indoor files without GPS will not produce a line.
- From Strava
- 1. Export GPX and use GPX to KML, or drop a FIT from a bulk export.
What is kept and what is lost
| Kept | Lost or missing |

| The GPS path and elevation as a LineString | Heart rate, cadence and power — not a KML concept |
Questions
Will heart rate show in Earth?
KML is a map line. Heart rate stays in the original FIT; use GPX or CSV if you need sensors.
Google Earth file type?
You get a .kml. Earth, Earth Studio and many GIS tools open it.
Indoor files?
Without GPS there is no line to draw. Use FIT to CSV or JSON instead.
Is Google involved?
No. We write a KML file locally. You open it in Earth yourself.
