What this format is

Strava’s account export is a zip of numbered files plus a CSV of names. This tool matches them, names each file after the activity, and writes GPX (or TCX) with heart rate and cadence in Garmin’s track-point extension so Garmin Connect and Strava can read them.

How to get the file

  1. From Garmin Connect
  2. 1. This page is for a Strava zip. For a single Garmin activity, use FIT to GPX.
  3. 2. In Garmin Connect, open an activity → the ⋯ menu → Export as GPX or FIT.
  1. From Strava
  2. 1. Strava website → Settings → My account → Download or delete your account → Download request.
  3. 2. Wait for the email, download the zip, drop it here. Do not unzip it first.

Questions

Do I unzip the Strava download first?

No. Drop the zip as emailed. The tool reads activities.csv, names each file, and converts the numbered .fit.gz activities.

Are photos and kudos in the download?

No. Those live on Strava’s site. You get the GPS track, timestamps, and sensor streams that were in the FIT files.

Can I keep TCX instead of GPX?

Yes. Choose TCX in the options column before you run. Heart rate and cadence are written either way.
